Lindsey Graham’s Disney World Dine Sparks Outrage

Senator Lindsey Graham’s Disney World Visit Sparks Controversy

South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham recently found himself in the spotlight after being spotted at Disney World in Orlando, where he was seen having breakfast with Mickey Mouse. This incident occurred amid the ongoing shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), raising questions about the senator’s priorities and actions.

An image of Graham at the “Most Magical Place on Earth” circulated widely on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, initially shared by TMZ. According to TMZ, Graham was enjoying a Sunday brunch at Chef Mickey’s at the Contemporary Resort. The unmarried and childless senator was reportedly seen with a younger woman and a child, adding to the public scrutiny surrounding his visit.

A second TMZ report published on Monday suggested that Graham had also been at Disney World on Friday evening. This revelation further intensified criticism from social media users, who pointed out the perceived hypocrisy of the senator taking a vacation while federal workers at the DHS have missed two paychecks. Delays at TSA checkpoints due to a lack of workers are also causing significant disruptions for travelers across the country.

California Governor Gavin Newsom’s official press account reposted the TMZ article about Graham on X, commenting, “Divas still need vacation.” Meanwhile, X user Mike Smith, posting under the handle @punishedpat76, noted that “This is maybe one of the most normal things Graham has been seen doing in public.”

Communications consultant Liz Shrum took a more critical stance, writing on X, “What a creep. While he sends the nations young people to war?” Her comment highlighted the growing concern over Graham’s actions and their implications.

Graham addressed the controversy in an interview with TMZ, explaining that he was invited to a meeting in South Florida on Friday with Trump official Steve Witkoff to discuss the possibility of normalization between Saudi Arabia and Israel. He added that he went to Orlando to meet friends after the meeting and has since returned to South Carolina.

He also emphasized his support for funding the government, stating, “I voted 7 times to fully fund the government. Call a Democrat.” However, this statement did not quell the backlash, as Graham had previously come under fire for claiming that when he goes “back to South Carolina, I’m asking them to send their sons and daughters over to the Middle East” to fight the war with Iran.

Other Politicians Also Face Scrutiny

Graham was not the only politician to face public scrutiny during this period. Fellow Capitol Hill lawmaker Robert Garcia, a Democrat representing California, was also photographed enjoying his Spring Break at a Las Vegas Casino on Sunday.

Garcia’s spokeswoman told TMZ that the congressman was visiting his father, who has lived in the area for 15 years. The Californian himself responded to TMZ’s story on X, noting, “actually I don’t mind what tmz is doing here. Like the story says my dad has lived in Vegas for 15 years and I had just finished lunch with him. I try to see him whenever I can.”

Garcia also criticized Speaker Mike Johnson, stating, “And like I said a few days ago, Speaker Mike Johnson should have never sent us all home,” throwing jabs at his political opponents.

Ongoing Government Shutdown

The DHS shutdown is now in its sixth week, with Acting TSA administrator Ha Nguyen McNeill warning lawmakers during a tense hearing on Capitol Hill that if workers miss another paycheck on Friday, the total amount of missed wages would exceed $1 billion. During the hearing, both Democrat and Republican lawmakers blamed the opposing party for the shutdown while questioning leaders of TSA, CISA, FEMA, and even the Coast Guard.

As the situation continues to unfold, the public remains divided on the responsibilities and actions of those in power. The ongoing debate highlights the broader implications of government shutdowns and the impact they have on both federal workers and the general public.
