Beyond this imperial treasure, the Seven Seas Grandeur features a breathtaking 12-metre-tall hand-woven tapestry by Brazilian artist Walter Goldfarb, a striking installation in the ship’s atrium. Adding another layer of artistic sophistication, a custom-made bronze and glass Bonsai Cherry Tree Sculpture by Savoy Studios greets guests at the entrance to the pan-Asian restaurant, blending natural aesthetics with fine craftsmanship.

Art expert Bleu Bosworth, founder and dealer of contemporary gallery Optima Contemporary, observes that these onboard exhibitions reflect a broader shift in how art is consumed: “A cruise ship allows art to exist outside the conventional white-cube gallery and to be encountered in a much more organic way by a global audience.” He further elaborates, “In many ways, that aligns with the ethos of many contemporary artists, particularly those working in urban or public art, whose work was never intended to exist only within institutional walls.”

These executives reportedly travelled the globe, meticulously choosing each piece. The result is a diverse collection gracing their ships, featuring iconic artists like Picasso and Miró, alongside contemporary masters such as Robert Mars and Damien Hirst. The collection also champions emerging talents like Li Domíguez Fong and Carlos Luna, offering a balanced representation of artistic expression. In a poignant tribute to Del Rio’s Cuban heritage, the ships also proudly display works by celebrated Cuban artists including Wifredo Lam, Cundo Bermúdez, and René Portocarrero.

Explora Journeys’ flagship, Explora I, presents guests with limited-edition screen prints and lithographs by legendary pop artists Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein.
