MAFS’ Gia Apologizes for “Mean Girl” Behavior, Blames Producers

Gia Fleur Issues Public Apology to Co-Stars After Vicious Dinner Party Outburst

Married At First Sight participant Gia Fleur has issued a heartfelt public apology to her co-stars Alissa Fay and Stella Mickunaite, following a highly controversial and offensive verbal attack she unleashed during a recent dinner party. The incident, which also involved fellow participant Brook Crompton, left viewers stunned and disgusted by the aggressive behaviour displayed.

Gia, a 35-year-old mother-of-one, and Brook, a 27-year-old model, engaged in a vitriolic tirade that dominated the episode. While Brook has since offered an apology for her actions, Gia initially appeared on radio claiming that producers had manipulated her into behaving that way. However, the disability support worker has since taken to Instagram to express her own remorse and take responsibility for her conduct.

Addressing Absence from “After The Dinner Party”

In her lengthy Instagram post, Gia began by clarifying her unexpected withdrawal from the Stan: After The Dinner Party series. Despite having travelled to Sydney for the show, she explained that a sudden illness led to her hospitalisation, preventing her participation. She emphasised that her absence was not due to a lack of courage but a necessary prioritisation of her health at the time.

She noted that the show’s hosts, Jules Lund, Brittany Hockley, and Laura Byrne, had mentioned her planned appearance and subsequent backing out. Despite her initial explanation of a medical emergency, Gia has since stated that she will not be appearing on the behind-the-scenes program. She explained that she had been invited to comment on the behaviour of others but felt it was inappropriate and inauthentic for her to critique their actions after her own outburst. Gia believes that calling out others would serve as a distraction from her own conduct, which occurred over six months ago.

Taking Ownership of Actions

Gia stated that she has heard and understood the reactions to her behaviour and accepts her role in the events. She expressed that revisiting the details of who said what no longer feels healthy for her. While she could discuss her lack of connection with Alissa or the hurtful things said to her, she believes that engaging in a cycle of blame and deflection is unproductive.

“Two wrongs don’t make a right,” Gia wrote, adding that she does not wish to participate in a cycle of negativity designed to detract from individual behaviour. Instead, she is choosing to focus on personal growth, becoming a better person, working on herself privately, and being a present and loving mother and a supportive partner. This is where she is directing her energy.

Direct Apology to Alissa and Stella

Gia concluded her extensive message with a direct and sincere apology to Alissa, 33, and Stella, 32, who were the primary targets of the “bullying” behaviour at the dinner party. She expressed genuine regret for her conduct that night and throughout the experiment, acknowledging that her delivery and behaviour were appalling, regardless of the circumstances.

She apologised for the offensive language used and the distress she caused both Alissa and Stella. Gia expressed deep sorrow for the hurt she inflicted and wished them both peace moving forward.

Initial Claims of Producer Manipulation

The public apology comes after Gia initially attributed her aggressive behaviour to producer manipulation. Appearing on The Fox’s Fifi, Fev and Nick radio show, she suggested that external pressures and pre-dinner party events had influenced her and Brook’s actions, describing them as “production puppets.” She claimed they were “pushed into being ‘mean girls'” and took things “up a notch” at the dinner party.

However, this explanation was met with considerable backlash from listeners and former reality show participants. Many took to social media to criticise Gia’s claims, arguing that while producers may highlight certain aspects of the show, individuals are ultimately responsible for their own words and actions. Comments from MAFS veterans like Jamie Marinos and Domenica Calarco, along with general audience reactions, suggested that producers were not solely to blame for the behaviour witnessed.

The incident at the dinner party saw Gia and Brook launch a severe verbal attack on Stella and Alissa, leading to widespread condemnation from viewers who labelled them “bullies” and called for their removal from the show.
