A critical search and rescue operation is currently underway in the Caribbean Sea, as two humanitarian aid boats carrying nine individuals have failed to reach their destination in Havana, Cuba. The vessels, which departed from Isla Mujeres in Mexico’s Quintana Roo state last week, were en route to the Cuban capital with vital supplies. They were expected to arrive on March 24th and 25th, respectively, but have not made contact since their departure.

The Mexican Navy initiated its search efforts on Thursday, deploying resources to scour the waters between Isla Mujeres and Havana. In addition to maritime patrols, an aircraft has been engaged to aid in the extensive search. The Navy has also issued an appeal to seafarers and maritime authorities across the region, requesting any information or sightings that could assist in locating the missing boats.

Furthermore, diplomatic representatives from the countries of origin of the missing individuals, whose nationalities have not yet been disclosed, have also been informed and are cooperating with the efforts.
