The owner, Duc Thang, expressed that the complaint, while unfortunate, might have been exacerbated by the naturally humid climate prevalent in northern Vietnam. He noted that such conditions can affect many establishments, and international visitors might interpret them differently, perceiving them as unsanitary. Thang also mentioned that some individuals who never actually visited the restaurant left negative comments after viewing shared images online.

The incident that led to the scrutiny occurred on March 3rd when a tourist, identified only as Wang, posted his observations on the Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu. He described the conditions as “unhygienic” and accompanied his remarks with photographs depicting a serving area cluttered with trash and a visibly wet floor.

This post rapidly garnered widespread attention from Chinese internet users, sparking discussions and expressions of concern.

The revitalized eatery at its new location on Hang Luoc Street officially reopened its doors on March 19th. Since then, it has experienced overwhelming demand, with the restaurant being fully booked for most of its operating hours. The popularity of the bun rieu appears undiminished, with patrons eager to sample the dish.
