A devastating car accident on Saturday evening has resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including a young schoolgirl, after a sports car veered off the road and collided with a tree. The incident, which occurred in North Lincolnshire, has left two other children in critical condition.
The collision took place around 5:45 pm on Shore Road, a stretch of highway situated between Garthorpe and Meredyke Road. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene following the catastrophic crash involving a white Audi TT. Despite their swift arrival, the driver, a 44-year-old man, the front seat passenger, a 48-year-old man, and a 13-year-old girl travelling in the rear, were all tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
The identities of the deceased have not yet been publicly released, but their families have been notified and are reportedly being supported by specialist officers during this immensely difficult period.
Survivors in Critical Condition
Two other young passengers in the vehicle, a 15-year-old girl and a nine-year-old boy, sustained severe injuries and were rushed to hospital. A spokesperson for Humberside Police stated, “Officers are appealing for information after three people have died following a single vehicle road traffic collision near Garthorpe, North Lincolnshire, yesterday evening (Saturday, March 28).”
The spokesperson elaborated on the details of the incident, confirming the vehicle involved was a white Audi TT travelling south. “At around 5.45pm, it is reported that a white Audi TT was travelling south along Shore Road, between Garthorpe and Meredyke Road, when for reasons not yet clear, the car is believed to have left road and collided with a tree.”
The force reiterated that the driver, front seat passenger, and one rear seat passenger were pronounced deceased at the scene. “Their families have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers at this incredibly difficult time,” the spokesperson added.
Regarding the injured children, the statement confirmed: “A nine-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl were taken to hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries. The girl’s injuries are being treated as life threatening at this time and she remains in a critical condition.”
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward. “An investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances around the collision and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or has any information, including CCTV or dashcam footage from around the time the incident occurred, to contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 422 of 28 March.”
