Thug’s Brutal Attack: 14yo Girl Bashed in Unprovoked Assault

Sunshine Coast Teenager Brutally Attacked, Father Alleges Police Inaction

A disturbing incident on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast has ignited concerns over the handling of youth violence, with the father of a 14-year-old victim claiming police are not treating a “vicious” and “unprovoked” assault with the seriousness it deserves. The attack, captured on confronting footage, depicts a young girl being subjected to a brutal beating by another teenage female.

The incident unfolded at Happy Valley in Caloundra, southeast Queensland, around 8:10 pm on a recent Saturday. The harrowing video shows the victim curled up on the ground, desperately trying to shield herself as she is repeatedly kicked and punched. The alleged motive for the attack, as reported by The Sunshine Coast Daily, stemmed from a claim that the victim had been “talking s***” about the attacker’s brother.

The aggressor, also believed to be around 14 years old, inflicted significant violence, including stomping on the victim’s head. At one point, a forceful blow to the face sent the victim’s head slamming back onto the concrete, rendering her briefly unconscious. The disturbing aftermath saw the sobbing girl clutching her head on the ground, while a crowd of onlookers reportedly laughed and continued to film the ordeal. During the assault, the alleged attacker can be heard in the video exclaiming, “Don’t talk s on my brother c.”

The victim’s father recounted the terrifying sequence of events, explaining he had dropped his daughter off at a social gathering shortly before 8 pm. While he waited at a nearby restaurant, he received a panicked call that shattered his evening. He described how his daughter was “king hit” – an unexpected and forceful blow – before she even understood what was happening, immediately incapacitating her and leaving her vulnerable on the ground. He stated she was hit approximately 14 times and lost consciousness for a period.

Father’s Frustration with Police Response

Despite the severity of the assault and the availability of clear evidence, the victim’s father expressed profound disappointment with the Queensland Police’s initial response. He revealed that he made two emergency triple-0 calls – one from the scene and another from the hospital – but claimed that officers failed to attend either location.

Paramedics had transported the young girl, whose identity is being protected, to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, where she received overnight treatment. According to the father, police instead made contact and advised them to lodge a formal complaint at their local police station on Monday, referring to it as “this sort of thing.”

This perceived lack of immediate action has led the father to question the effectiveness of political promises to address youth crime. He specifically referenced the Liberal National Party of Queensland’s (LNP) platform, suggesting their calls for a crackdown on youth crime appeared hollow in light of his experience. He posed a pointed question: “Where were the police and will the LNP stand by their Adult Time for Adult Crime policy for attacks like this if the alleged attacker is found guilty?”

The father also conveyed his deep distress over the incident, stating he was “appalled” by the behaviour and expressed his firm belief that the attack would “no doubt” traumatise his daughter.

Victim’s Recovery and Ongoing Investigation

The 14-year-old was discharged from hospital on Sunday morning, bearing visible signs of the assault, including significant bruising and a concussion. Speaking to media, she revealed that she did not even know her attacker and expressed anxiety about attending future social events.

The Queensland Police have since confirmed that officers from the Child Protection Investigation Unit are now involved in the case. As of the latest reports, no charges have been laid in connection with the attack.

In a statement, Queensland Police said: “Police understand the girl and her parents will attend a station on Monday to make an assault complaint. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant vision is urged to contact police.” The police are appealing for any witnesses or individuals with footage of the assault to come forward and assist with their inquiries.
