The ever-popular presenter Rylan Clark has recently revealed a rather dramatic experience with a cosmetic procedure, describing it as a “traumatic” ordeal. The candid confession came during his BBC Radio 2 show on Saturday, when his co-host, traffic reporter Sally Boazman, playfully questioned his remarkably fresh appearance.
“You’re looking very good these days,” Sally, 76, remarked to Rylan, 37. “Have you gone under the knife recently?”
Rylan, never one to shy away from an honest answer, admitted, “Weirdly, I had something done yesterday, which was, ugh, such a trauma, I’m not gonna lie, what I had done.” When pressed by Sally for more details, Rylan remained somewhat tight-lipped, stating, “I won’t go into it over the radio, because it was just quite invasive on the faces! Yeah, it was very invasive.”
While Rylan chose to keep the specifics under wraps for his radio audience, sources have hinted to the Daily Mail that the procedure involved fillers. This wouldn’t be the first time Rylan has been open about enhancing his look. He has previously spoken openly about using fillers, Botox, and undergoing various other cosmetic enhancements over the years.
During his chat with Sally, Rylan even brought his mum, Linda, into the conversation, joking about the costs associated with cosmetic treatments. “I said to her yesterday all of this ain’t going to do anything now, it’s time to go in for the big one… but I ain’t spending 30 grand on Linda’s face, I’d rather pick her up by the head and shake her about and chop it off myself! 30 grand, she’s not Kris Jenner!” he quipped.
The conversation then took a humorous turn as Sally declared she had “earned my wrinkles.” Rylan, while agreeing that there’s “nothing wrong with wrinkles” and that he “likes my wrinkles,” was met with Sally’s sharp observation: “you haven’t got a single one! I’m looking at your face, not a single one.” Sally’s compliments on Rylan’s flawless skin and hair led him to humorously confess, “honestly without that I’d look like a troll.”
The Saturday show also featured guests Mollie King and Matt Edmondson, who were on hand to discuss their podcast, “Novel Idea,” and for Matt to showcase his magic skills to Rylan.
Rylan’s openness about his cosmetic journey is well-documented. He has previously admitted to a significant investment in his smile, having spent a reported £25,000 on veneers back in 2013. His pursuit of aesthetic refinement has also included lip fillers, Botox, and further dental work aimed at achieving a more natural look.
Reflecting on his past experiences, Rylan has acknowledged that he may have “gone a bit overboard” with some treatments. However, he maintains that he has no regrets, viewing each experience as a valuable learning curve.
“I don’t regret anything I’ve done,” Rylan has stated in previous interviews. “I’ll probably still have more things done. I think if you’re in a position where you want to change something, and you think it will make you feel better, and you can do that, then do it. I don’t think you should be judged for that. Do I think sometimes in the past I’ve gone a bit too far? Yeah. Do I realise now that I don’t have to go as far as that? Yeah, so, I don’t.”
Beyond his popular Saturday radio show, which he has hosted for over six years, Rylan is reportedly being considered for a major presenting role on the upcoming season of Strictly Come Dancing. His popularity and strong connection to the show, where he previously co-hosted It Takes Two from 2019 to 2023, have placed him as a frontrunner.
However, Rylan is understood to be facing screen tests to gauge his chemistry with potential co-hosts. Strictly producers are reportedly keen on a fresh presenting line-up with strong ties to the show.
Sources close to the production have indicated that a pairing with The One Show host Angela Scanlon, who participated in Strictly in 2023, is being seriously considered. Insiders believe this duo “tick every box” for the show’s bosses.
The motivation behind seeking a new presenting team is multifaceted. There’s a desire for a “totally new pairing – no baggage, no former shows, uniquely Strictly.” Furthermore, there’s a strategic consideration to ensure that an all-female presenting lineup isn’t replaced by a traditional male-female duo where the male presenter might dominate. Rylan is seen as a perfect fit in this regard, being described as someone who is “not like that at all.” His genuine passion for the show and established rapport with viewers are also significant assets.
“Rylan isn’t like that at all. Plus, he absolutely loves the show and the viewers already love him,” a source commented.
The prospect of Rylan stepping into a main hosting role is reportedly a dream come true for the presenter, who “loved It Takes Two and the viewers loved him.” His existing fanbase is expected to translate into strong ratings, making him a “ratings winner” that the BBC is keen to leverage. Insiders suggest he would readily accept the opportunity, with one stating he “would ‘bite the BBC’s hand off’ for the job.”
Rylan’s extensive broadcasting experience, including his time on It Takes Two, his solo Rylan On Saturday show, his regular contributions to This Morning, and his anchoring of Eurovision coverage for the BBC, all position him as a highly capable and experienced candidate for the coveted Strictly Come Dancing presenting role.
