Lisa Kudrow’s Taut Face After Bizarre Botox Fallout

Lisa Kudrow Shines at Human Rights Campaign Gala, Discusses Aging and a Fond Farewell to Matthew Perry

Lisa Kudrow, the beloved former star of the iconic sitcom Friends, recently made a striking appearance at the Human Rights Campaign’s 2026 Los Angeles Dinner, held at the prestigious Fairmont Century Plaza. The 62-year-old actress radiated a youthful glow as she took to the stage, commanding attention in a sharp white power suit. Her signature blonde bob was styled neatly, parted to the side and tucked behind her ear, as she delivered her remarks at the star-studded event.

Kudrow complemented her elegant ensemble with a classic black camisole peeking out from beneath her blazer. She was pictured alongside fellow actors, including Kristin Davis, known for her roles in And Just Like That and Sex and the City, and Dan Bucatinsky, an actor and executive producer from the HBO series The Comeback.

This public appearance comes at a time when Kudrow has been candid about her experiences with cosmetic procedures. She recently shared insights into some unexpected and “bizarre” side effects she encountered after undergoing Botox treatments. “I think it contributed to my eye irritation and this weird pattern on my forehead, so I’m probably done with it now anyway,” she disclosed to The Hollywood Reporter, indicating a potential end to her use of the popular neurotoxin. Kudrow, who only began exploring Botox in her early sixties, also confessed to a degree of trepidation regarding the aging process.

Navigating Age and Self-Perception

The veteran Hollywood actress admitted to a sense of apprehension about the natural progression of aging, expressing surprise that she remains recognisable to fans. “I am scared of having to see myself looking like my grandmother one day, but I’m excited to play older roles,” she remarked. Despite this personal concern, Kudrow is frequently lauded for her choice to embrace natural aging. However, she has previously spoken about a “life-altering” decision made in her youth: a nose job at the age of 16. “I went from, in my mind, hideous to not hideous,” she recalled to The Saturday Evening Post in 2014. “I did it the summer before going to a new high school. So there were plenty of people who wouldn’t know how hideous I looked before. That was a good, good, good change.”

More recently, in 2024, Kudrow elaborated on her decision to steer clear of further cosmetic surgery. “I don’t judge anyone for doing it. A lot of people look fantastic, but I also am afraid that if it doesn’t heal right, [I will] look older and altered,” she explained on the Armchair Expert podcast. She pondered the societal pressure to conform to aesthetic trends, questioning, “Everyone but me seems to be doing this, so should I? Am I allowed not to? Or is it going to be so off-putting it’s going to affect people’s experience watching me?”

A Comforting Connection to Matthew Perry and Friends

On the same day as her gala appearance, Kudrow also shared a poignant reflection on watching reruns of Friends and the comfort it has brought her since the passing of her late co-star, Matthew Perry. “After Matthew passed away, there were marathons [on TV] and that was really comforting watching the show,” she stated during an appearance on Capital FM. She added that she found solace in rewatching the series simply because “it makes me laugh, and there he was, and he was just so funny. I mean, the funniest. Sorry everybody else, but yeah, just truly.”

Kudrow explained that her decision to revisit Friends was also driven by a desire to see episodes she hadn’t fully absorbed during the original filming period. “So I thought, ‘Alright, now I need to… Why don’t I just see what this show’s about,’ you know? Because I didn’t watch every episode when we were shooting,” she elaborated. “I had a kid and I don’t know, just none of us were.”

When asked if rewatching the show held any surprising revelations for her, Kudrow responded with a simple “No.” She described the experience of watching the reruns after some time had passed as “great,” particularly because she had been her own most severe critic during filming. “The great thing, because when I would see parts of it or something, and see myself, I would be, depending on my mood, like, ‘Ugh, come on. Just stop it. Why’d you do that?’ And now I can just say, ‘Alright, I can forgive you for that.’ And also, ‘Oh! She’s funny. Yeah, she’s a funny character, but everyone’s making me laugh my a** off.’”

The Cult Status of The Comeback

The star, also known for her role in Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion, is currently engaged in promotional activities for her HBO series, The Comeback, which recently returned for its highly anticipated third season on March 22nd. In this cult comedy series, Kudrow portrays Valerie Cherish, an actress grappling with her fading relevance who finds herself starring in the groundbreaking first sitcom written entirely by Artificial Intelligence.

The show initially premiered in 2005 to considerable critical acclaim but was regrettably cancelled by HBO after its first season due to modest ratings. Despite its abrupt end, The Comeback cultivated a dedicated cult following and was frequently cited by critics as one of the standout television shows of the modern era. This enduring popularity eventually led to its revival for a second season in 2014. However, the second season also struggled with viewership, becoming the least-watched original scripted series on cable. The current third season has been met with overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics, solidifying its place as a critically adored program. Kudrow has confirmed that this third installment will be the final chapter for Valerie Cherish, irrespective of ratings or critical reception.
