Rory McIlroy, one of the most celebrated golfers in the world, has unveiled his meticulously crafted menu for the Masters Club dinner. This special event, hosted by the reigning champion, will take place on April 7 and bring together all past champions for an evening of celebration and camaraderie.
McIlroy has always been cautious about planning his menu for the prestigious dinner, fearing that it might interfere with his dream of winning the Masters. However, this fear was dispelled last year when he triumphed over Justin Rose in a thrilling playoff at Augusta National, securing the green jacket. Now, as the reigning champion, he is ready to host the dinner and share his culinary vision with the golfing community.
McIlroy emphasized that he aimed to be thoughtful with his menu while ensuring it would be enjoyable for everyone. The menu features some of his favorite dishes, including a few recipes from his mother, Rosie, alongside local flavors from Georgia. This blend of personal and regional elements adds a unique touch to the dining experience.
The appetizers include a crowd-pleasing rocky shrimp tempura and a Georgia peach and ricotta flatbread with hot honey, which are expected to pair well with the drinks served during the event. A standout dish is the bacon-wrapped dates stuffed with goat cheese, a nod to McIlroy’s mother, who has played a significant role in shaping his love for food.
To add a playful twist, McIlroy has also included grilled elk sliders. “In the build-up to the Masters last year, I was eating a lot of elk,” he shared. “I didn’t want elk to be the main course because I didn’t know if everyone would like that… so I’m doing grilled elk sliders which I think is fun.”
The first course is a yellowfin tuna carpaccio inspired by a dish created by French chef Eric Ripert. This elegant dish features thin slices of tuna topped with foie gras, a rich paste made from the liver of a duck or goose. It sets the tone for the evening with its sophistication and flavor.
For the main course, guests can choose between a wagyu filet mignon or seared salmon, both of which are sure to impress. The meal concludes with a sticky toffee pudding served with warm toffee sauce, a classic dessert that brings a sweet ending to the evening.
A collection of wines will also be available, ranging from a $1,000 red or white wine to a champagne worth over $2,200. This selection highlights the importance of fine dining and the celebratory nature of the event.
McIlroy expressed his excitement about driving down Magnolia Lane as a champion for the first time. “This is going to be the first time I drive down Magnolia Lane (as a champion) and it’s all going to be about enjoying my week and the perks that come along,” he said. He also mentioned that knowing he will return to the Masters for the rest of his life is a freeing feeling.
As the Masters approaches, there have been some concerns about McIlroy’s fitness, especially after he withdrew from the Arnold Palmer Invitation due to an injury. However, McIlroy downplayed the issue, describing it as a “little back issue” that he has since recovered from. “I am pleased with how my body responded to that little setback,” he said. “I’m really excited to get to the week of the Masters and defend.”
Only three golfers have managed to win the Masters back-to-back, with Tiger Woods being the last to achieve this feat in 2002. McIlroy is determined to repeat his success from 2025 and make history once again.
The Masters will take place from April 9 to April 12, marking the start of the season’s first major championship. For McIlroy, it’s not just about the competition—it’s about celebrating the journey, the people, and the traditions that make the Masters such a special event.
