Toyota unveils 2026 BZ Woodland SUV in EV expansion

Toyota Unveils the 2026 bZ Woodland: A New Era in Electric SUVs

Toyota has launched the 2026 bZ Woodland, marking a significant milestone as the first rugged electric SUV in its battery-electric vehicle (BEV) lineup. This new model blends off-road capability with impressive electric performance, positioning itself as a versatile option for drivers seeking both adventure and sustainability.

Scheduled to arrive at U.S. dealerships this month, the bZ Woodland starts at a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $45,300, excluding dealer processing and handling fees. It is set to become a standout in Toyota’s expanding BEV range, offering a unique blend of power, utility, and innovation.

Powerful Performance and Long-Range Capability

The bZ Woodland is the most powerful vehicle in Toyota’s bZ series, featuring a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) system that delivers a net combined output of 375 horsepower. This robust powertrain enables the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds, making it one of the fastest electric vehicles in its class.

In terms of range, the bZ Woodland offers an EPA-estimated driving range of up to 281 miles. For those who opt for all-terrain tires, the estimated range drops slightly to 260 miles. The vehicle can also be charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes using DC fast charging, making it ideal for long road trips or quick stopovers.

Engineered for Stability and Utility

Built on Toyota’s dedicated e-TNGA battery-electric platform, the bZ Woodland is designed for both stability and performance. Its battery pack is mounted flat under the floor, which lowers the center of gravity and enhances handling. The SUV boasts 8.4 inches of ground clearance and can tow up to 3,500 pounds, reinforcing its utility-focused design.

Rugged Design and Spacious Interior

Visually, the bZ Woodland distinguishes itself with rugged black overfenders, added body length for increased cargo space, and 18-inch aluminum wheels with aero covers. When the rear seats are folded flat, the cargo capacity expands to 74.3 cubic feet, offering more space than the standard bZ model. Roof rails come standard, allowing for additional outdoor gear such as bicycles and cargo carriers.

Inside, the SUV features a spacious cabin with ample legroom and a 14-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen. Standard features include SofTex-trimmed seating, heated front and rear outboard seats, a heated steering wheel, dual wireless Qi chargers, dual-zone automatic climate control, Digital Key capability, and multiple USB-C ports.

Advanced Technology and Charging Features

The bZ Woodland is powered by a 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery and comes equipped with a North American Charging System (NACS) port, enabling access to thousands of DC fast-charging stations across the United States. It also features Battery Pre-Conditioning technology to optimize charging temperatures and Plug and Charge capability for simplified authentication at participating charging networks.

An 11-kW onboard charger supports Level 1 and Level 2 charging, and a dual-voltage home charging cable is included as standard equipment. Additionally, the AWD system includes Toyota’s X-MODE® with Grip Control, which optimizes brake control and power distribution to improve traction in adverse driving conditions. Steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters allow drivers to adjust regenerative braking levels to help recapture energy during deceleration.

Premium Enhancements and Expanded Electrification Portfolio

The bZ Woodland Premium grade enhances comfort and technology with a JBL® nine-speaker premium audio system, ventilated front seats with memory function, radiant front-seat heating, a panoramic fixed-glass roof, and a digital rearview mirror.

With the addition of the bZ Woodland, alongside the refreshed bZ SUV and the all-new C-HR compact crossover, Toyota now offers 21 electrified models across BEV, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fuel cell segments. This expansion underscores Toyota’s continued commitment to electrification and its vision for a sustainable future.
