Kathmandu, March 8 — The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has emerged as the leading political force in the latest House of Representatives election results. According to the most recent update, the party has secured 120 seats and is currently leading in five additional constituencies. This strong performance highlights the RSP’s growing influence in the country’s political landscape.
The Nepali Congress, one of the oldest and most established parties in Nepal, has managed to secure 17 seats. While this is a significant achievement, it pales in comparison to the RSP’s dominance. The CPN-UML, another major political entity, has won seven seats and is leading in three more constituencies. The Nepali Communist Party also holds seven seats, showing its continued presence in the political arena.
In addition to these major parties, several smaller political groups have also made their mark. The Shram Sanskriti Party has secured three seats, while the Rastriya Prajatantra Party has managed to win one seat. These results indicate that even smaller parties are finding ways to gain representation in the House of Representatives.
One notable outcome of the elections is the success of independent candidate Mahabir Pun. He has been elected to the House of Representatives, demonstrating the potential for individuals outside of traditional party structures to gain public support and influence.
Under the proportional representation category, which plays a crucial role in determining the distribution of seats, the RSP has shown remarkable strength. Out of the 5,078,360 votes counted so far, the RSP has received 2,503,345 votes. This makes them the clear leader in terms of vote share.
The Nepali Congress follows closely behind with 844,387 votes, indicating that while they may not have as many seats, they still have a substantial base of support. The CPN-UML comes in third with 722,746 votes, further emphasizing the competitive nature of the election.
Other parties have also contributed to the overall vote count. The Nepali Communist Party has secured 345,847 votes, while the Rastriya Prajatantra Party has received 181,500 votes. The Shram Sanskriti Party, with 124,229 votes, rounds out the list of parties with significant vote shares.
These results will likely have long-term implications for Nepal’s political future. As the new House of Representatives begins its work, the RSP’s leadership position could shape the direction of policy and governance in the coming years.
