Governor Mai Mala Buni’s Commitment to Loyalty and Trust
Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has made a powerful declaration, stating that he would rather die than betray his political mentor and predecessor, Senator Ibrahim Geidam, who currently serves as the Minister of Police Affairs. This statement was delivered during the APC Congress held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State.
Buni, who previously served as Special Adviser on Political Matters under Geidam’s administration, emphasized the deep bond between them. He was later nominated as the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a position that further solidified his political career. In his speech, Buni highlighted that his entire political journey has been built on trust, and he has never considered betrayal as an option.
“I would rather die than betray him,” Buni said. “I remain deeply grateful to him for the role he played in my political journey. I will never forget where I am coming from, and I will never turn my back on the man who trusted and supported me. I will never betray the trust of my predecessor, the Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Geidam, and the people of Yobe State.”
He continued, “I am a product of trust. I have never betrayed anybody; it is not in my record. I always want to be remembered as someone who never betrays anyone.”
Emphasizing Loyalty and Unity
In addition to his personal commitment to loyalty, Governor Buni urged the newly elected State Executive Committee (EXCO) to uphold the principles of loyalty, unity, and service to both the party and the state. His message was clear: the future of the APC in Yobe State depends on maintaining strong internal bonds and a shared vision.
The APC State Electoral Committee Chairman, Engineer Dr. Muttaka Rabe Darma, provided details about the election process of the new executive members. He explained that the selection was made through a consensus process, which was adopted after extensive consultations with various stakeholders. The delegates unanimously endorsed this approach, reflecting a collective decision-making process that aligns with the party’s values.
A Unified Approach
The consensus model chosen for selecting the EXCO members highlights the importance of inclusivity and collaboration within the APC. It also underscores the party’s commitment to ensuring that all voices are heard and respected. This approach is expected to strengthen the party’s foundation and enhance its effectiveness in serving the people of Yobe State.
Looking Ahead
As the APC moves forward, the emphasis on loyalty and unity will play a critical role in shaping the party’s direction. Governor Buni’s unwavering stance on trust and integrity sets a strong example for others to follow. His words resonate not only with his colleagues but also with the citizens of Yobe State, who look to their leaders for guidance and stability.
With the new EXCO in place, the focus will now shift towards implementing policies and initiatives that reflect the values of loyalty, unity, and service. The APC’s success in Yobe State will depend on its ability to maintain these principles while addressing the challenges faced by the community.
