The Prolific Professor and His Chilling Predictions
Professor Xueqin Jiang, a Beijing-based educator and writer, has gained attention for his accurate political predictions. Known as ‘China’s Nostradamus,’ he has made several forecasts that have come true, particularly through his YouTube and Substack series called Predictive History. His latest prediction has raised concerns about the future of international relations.
Jiang is also part of Harvard’s Global Education Innovation Initiative and has authored a book on education reform. He coordinates study abroad programs at China’s top schools and offers free lessons online. In 2024, he published a lesson titled ‘The Iran Trap,’ which has now gained millions of views due to recent military tensions in the Middle East.
A Forecast That Has Come True
In his video, Jiang predicted that Donald Trump would win the 2024 presidential election and lead a military strike against Iran. This forecast was later echoed when Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu launched a coordinated effort to destroy Iran’s nuclear capabilities after diplomatic negotiations failed. Iran retaliated with strikes against US military bases in the region, leading to fears of a full-scale war.

Jiang wrote in the description of the lesson that if Trump were to win a second term, he would likely contemplate invading Iran. He noted that while an initial invasion might seem successful, American forces could become bogged down in Iran’s mountainous terrain. He predicted that Trump would justify the war as a means of bringing democracy to the region and eliminating Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
After the initial strikes on February 28, Trump issued a defiant video message justifying the attack, echoing Jiang’s predictions. He stated that the US would not allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons and denounced the Iranian regime, arguing that military force was in America’s best interest.
Historical Parallels and Strategic Forces
Jiang compared the potential conflict to Athens’ invasion of Sicily in 415 BCE during the Peloponnesian War. Commanders Alcibiades and Nicias launched an ambitious effort but underestimated their opponents’ power, ultimately weakening the Athenian empire.

Jiang identified three major forces pushing the US toward war with Iran: the Israel lobby, including AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee), America’s desire to be a global empire, and Iran’s conflict with Saudi Arabia. He argued that the US is addicted to empire because it represents easy money, with all financial transactions channeled through the US.
He noted that Saudi Arabia threatens Iran’s existence, as the two countries have long engaged in a proxy war. Iranian forces fight insurgent groups supported by Saudi Arabia, while Saudi Arabian forces fight rebel groups backed by Iran.

A Full-Scale Invasion in 2027?
In his lecture, Jiang predicted that Trump would launch a ‘full-scale US invasion of Iran’ in March 2027, with the support of Israel, Saudi Arabia, the UK, Australia, the UAE, and Poland. He believed the announcement would be televised, with Trump justifying the invasion by claiming the Iranian people wanted democracy and freedom.
Jiang argued that the US would frame the military conflict as a means of liberating the Iranian people and destroying nuclear capabilities in Iran. Although the Trump administration has scaled back rhetoric advocating for regime change in Iran, it has still floated the idea of intervening in Iranian politics.
A War the US Might Lose
Jiang made a third chilling prediction in 2024, stating that the US would lose the war. During a recent interview, he stood by his initial prediction, noting that Iran had ‘many more advantages’ over the US. He argued that Iran has been preparing for a conflict with the US and has generated power through its proxies, including militant groups like Hezbollah and Hamas.

Jiang explained that the US military is not designed for 21st-century warfare and is focused on ‘muscle flexing.’ He warned that sending ground troops to Iran would be the worst calamity for the US. He predicted that American allies like Saudi Arabia and Qatar would push the US to either send ground troops or bribe Iran to stop launching strikes across the Middle East.
When asked why the US would engage in a war abroad, Jiang speculated that the successful capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro made Trump ‘overconfident.’ He added that if ground troops are sent to Iran, Trump could request approval from Congress for emergency war powers, which could grant him a third term.
Franklin D Roosevelt served four terms during World War II, but the 22nd Amendment was later passed to prohibit presidents from exceeding term limits even during wartime. However, Trump has previously floated the idea, joking during a press briefing with President Volodymyr Zelensky: ‘So, let me just say, three-and-a-half years from now… if we happen to be in a war with somebody, no more elections. Oh, that’s good.’
The Trump administration has touted that the conflict in Iran is going as planned. The president announced a ‘new phase’ in the joint war on Friday and ruled out negotiations with Iran, calling for an ‘unconditional surrender’ as military strikes continue across the Middle East.
