Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani Recognized as a Listening Leader
The Kaduna State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has praised Governor Uba Sani for his leadership style, describing him as a listening leader who has consistently fulfilled his promises since taking office. This sentiment was expressed during an event where the Governor hosted Christian leaders to break the Ramadan fast at Government House.
Rev Caleb Ma’aji, the Chairman of CAN, highlighted that the organization had previously requested the restoration of government sponsorship for Christian pilgrimage to Jerusalem, which had been suspended in 2015. He noted that the Governor had promised to investigate the reasons behind the suspension and take action on the request.
This year, 49 individuals have completed their pilgrimage to Jerusalem and returned. Rev Ma’aji mentioned that the last person in the group faced a name mix-up but is expected to depart soon. The CAN Chairman also recalled previous requests for the construction of several key roads, including the PAN Drive-Television Garage-Sabon Tasha road, Samrada-Romi-Karatudu Gonin Gora road, and the Nasarawa-UNTL-Zenith Bank Kakuri road.
As of now, these roads are under construction, with high standards being maintained, including asphalt and proper drainage systems. Rev Caleb emphasized that Christians will continue to pray for Governor Uba Sani, seeking divine wisdom and guidance for his leadership. He believes that the Governor will leave Kaduna State in a better condition than he found it, citing significant achievements in his two and a half years in office.
Bishop Joseph Yari, former Chairman of the Kaduna State Christians Pilgrims Welfare Board, also commended the Governor for restoring the pilgrimage to Jerusalem. As one of the pilgrims, Bishop Yari shared that the group prayed for continued peace in Nigeria and Kaduna State during their visit to the Holy Land.
Governor Uba Sani acknowledged the importance of reinstating state sponsorship for Christian pilgrimage, aligning it with his administration’s philosophy of justice, equity, and fairness. He expressed his commitment to restoring Kaduna State to its former glory, where people of different ethnic groups and religions lived in harmony and pursued their livelihoods peacefully.
The Governor lamented that the state had lost its status as “home for all Nigerians” due to years of ethno-religious conflicts, vowing to reverse this situation. He explained that hosting Iftar events with religious leaders and stakeholders during Ramadan allows for feedback on government policies and programs.
This year’s Iftar holds special significance as both Muslim and Christian faithful observe fasting and Lent, respectively. Governor Uba Sani urged religious leaders to support his administration and President Bola Tinubu in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people, promoting sustainable development.
