“I don’t think the results are reflective of the club that we are and the culture and the values that we stand for,” Murray asserted. He expressed confidence in the current direction, particularly with the return of Wayne Bennett at the helm.

“Obviously now we’ve got Wayne back, who’s sort of leading that fight back to where we think we belong and where we think we’re capable of finishing as a club,” he said. “I would like to think even before Payne signed, it was still a desirable club for people to come to. We’ve got a lot of draws to our club.”

The focus for the current Rabbitohs squad, as articulated by Murray, is to build on this foundation of desirability, cultivate a winning culture, and ensure that when Haas does arrive, he joins a team ready to capitalise on his immense talent and elevate the club back to its former glory.
