Baldivis Man Jailed for Child Abduction Plot After WA Police, ABF Probe

A Perth man with disturbing intentions has been handed a significant prison sentence after extensive preparations for child abduction and abuse were uncovered by authorities. The 37-year-old will spend seven years and five months behind bars for his depraved plans, a stark reminder of the vigilance required to protect our youngest and most vulnerable.

The investigation into the man’s activities began in mid-2024, triggered by an alert from Australian Border Force officers who intercepted the attempted importation of a prohibited child-like sex doll. This crucial discovery prompted a raid on his Baldivis home, where police unearthed a chilling trove of evidence detailing his meticulously planned offences.

Evidence of Disturbing Preparations

Inside the residence, law enforcement discovered more than just concerning online material. The man had made structural modifications to his home, specifically altering the roof to create a restricted access attic space, suggesting a pre-meditated plan for confinement.

Furthermore, police uncovered detailed written diagrams that meticulously outlined an intended abduction process. Investigators stated these documents indicated the man was “actively preparing to commit physical harm.” His research extended to identifying potential targets, with evidence showing he had extensively scoped out local schools, kindergartens, and early-learning centres. His online research was equally alarming, focusing on methods to approach, isolate, and restrain a child.

A Guilty Plea and Serious Charges

The analysis of electronic devices seized from the man’s home revealed a disturbing volume of child exploitation material, some of which involved very young children. Thankfully, due to the swift intervention by police, no child was physically harmed.

Following the investigation, the offender faced multiple charges. He ultimately pleaded guilty to several serious offences, including attempting to possess child-like sex dolls, using a carriage service to prepare or plan to engage in sexual activity with a child under 16, and possessing child exploitation material.

Asset Forfeiture Under Consideration

In a further measure to disrupt his activities and prevent future harm, police issued a freezing notice on the man’s home, vehicle, and bank accounts. Authorities have indicated they will seek the forfeiture of these assets if they are deemed to have been used to facilitate the offending. This action underscores the commitment of law enforcement to not only prosecute offenders but also to dismantle the means by which they operate.
