The document, a 302 form detailing an FBI agent’s summary of a witness interview conducted in 2019, suggests that in 2005, Trump contacted the then-chief of the Palm Beach Police Department, Michael Reiter. According to Reiter’s recollection, as documented in the FBI report, Trump reached out to inform him that Epstein, a long-time acquaintance and member of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club, was allegedly preying on young girls.
“Thank goodness you’re stopping him, everyone has known he’s been doing this,” Reiter reportedly stated Trump told him.
The FBI report further elaborates on Reiter’s account of the conversation with Trump. Reiter indicated that Trump claimed to have been present at Epstein’s mansion, located a short distance from Mar-a-Lago, at a time when teenage girls were in attendance. Trump allegedly stated that he departed the premises as soon as he realised the nature of the situation. Furthermore, Trump is reported to have urged the police to maintain a close watch on Ghislaine Maxwell.
The 302 form explicitly records Trump’s alleged assessment of Maxwell: “Trump said Maxwell was Epstein’s operative, ‘she is evil and to focus on her.’” The document also quotes Trump telling an unidentified individual (redacted in the report) that he had been at Epstein’s residence once when teenagers were present and that he “got the hell out of there.” The report also notes that Trump was “one of the very first people to call when people found out that they were investigating Epstein.”
Michael Reiter was the police chief at the time when the stepmother of a 14-year-old girl contacted the department to report an alleged assault by Epstein on her teenage stepdaughter. This initial report was followed by numerous others from additional young women, many of whom were students at Royal Palm Beach High School.
